Too much whipped cream and a strong almond aroma.
Caffè Epoca is one of the most popular bars in Catania, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, strategic location, and excellent food. On a mild winter morning, we tried their pistachio hot chocolate, named "Choco Gourmet".
The cup of hot chocolate is served with plenty of whipped cream as a garnish and some accompanying cookies.
The inviting appearance, unfortunately, is not matched by the taste, where the pistachio flavor is practically impossible to find (except, occasionally, thanks to the chopped nuts). The cream dominates, and even when you reach the green layer at the bottom, the dominant flavor is an intense almond aroma.
The accompanying cookies are good.
Unfortunately, given the strong almond and cream flavor, the rating is 2/10.
