Where to eat the best pistachio Realistic Fruit in Catania.
Realistic fruit has been taking over Catania since the first half of 2026: it is a simplified reinterpretation of Cédric Grolet's Fruits Sculptés.
These are desserts made of mousse and various types of inserts (jams, purees, crunchy elements, etc.) that strongly evoke the taste of the original fruit (even though the trend now includes items that aren't strictly fruits, like coffee beans).
They should absolutely not be confused with frutta martorana, a traditional Sicilian sweet made of almonds, which does not replicate the taste of the original fruit, but only its appearance.

The aesthetics of the Pistachio are very refined, and the glaze color is a soft, natural green with beautiful nuances, though it lacks a crunchy texture. The inside, however, has a slightly less natural green hue, but still offers a very good, well-defined pistachio taste with some crunchy bits.
The other flavors feature very polished aesthetics, and the balance between mousse and other inserts is always excellent. The Mango had an aftertaste that didn't quite convince me (despite the freshness of the raw ingredients being evident), while the other flavors were all excellent, particularly the Peanut (incredibly intense) and Raspberry (delicious).

PASTICCERIA SOTTILE - Via Lago di Nicito

The aesthetics of the Pistachio are average, and the glaze color is a bit too bright; furthermore, it is not crunchy. The inside, however, has a much more natural green color and a truly intense pistachio taste, leaning towards toasted notes, with delightful crunchy, slightly salty pistachio pieces.
The other flavors have variable aesthetics (the Lemon, for example, is beautiful). The inside often contains a bit too much mousse compared to the central insert (e.g., puree), resulting in a slightly too "fatty" mouthfeel. This is particularly noticeable in the Lemon and to some extent in the Mango (which is still very good). The Coffee is delightful, proving to be less fatty and sweet.

GiòSì | Cake and Sweet - Via Petrella

The aesthetics of the Pistachio are very refined, with excellent realism in color and shading, featuring a soft, natural green tone. Pleasantly crunchy glaze and a great play of textures inside, from creamy to crunchy. The inside has a very good pistachio taste, characterized by a slight salty touch; it just barely misses the top score.
The other flavors confirm the extraordinary visual realism of every piece and maintain overall crunchy glazes. The Blueberry flavor wins among those tested—delicious and balanced, even if the glaze is less crunchy. The Lemon leans towards slightly tart notes but compensates with a very intense flavor. Finally, the Peanut is excellent, although, as is often the case, it proves to be an "easier" flavor compared to the others.
