A delicate yet pleasant cream inside a good shell.
Rating: 7/10
Just a few steps from the Duomo di Ortigia, you can find the shop "Cannoli del Re," which sells made-to-order cannoli in a unique "cone" format, making them easy to enjoy while walking, just like an ice cream.
Among the available fillings, there is the classic ricotta, but we couldn't resist trying the Bronte pistachio DOP cream, topped with pistachio flour (though other toppings are available) to make sure we didn't miss out on anything. The color of the flour is truly interesting, leaving us almost certain that it is indeed Bronte pistachio.
The flavor of the cream is very pleasant, and the contribution of the pistachio is noticeable, even if not marked, always leaving plenty of room for the taste of the cream base. It is, however, a cream clearly superior to many others we have tasted in other cannoli. The texture is very enjoyable, soft, and without lumps. The taste of the pistachio flour is also good, even if not as intense as we had hoped (judging by the color).
The shell is quite crunchy, although it doesn't quite reach the heights of excellence we've experienced in other cannoli.
Overall, also considering the good value for money in relation to the stunning location on the island of Ortigia, this is a product that satisfied us and one we enjoyed with great pleasure. Our rating is 7/10, due to the pistachio flavor being present but not particularly intense.
