Almond aftertaste and a slightly powdery texture.
Rating: 7/10
2021 UPDATE
The rating has increased from 2 to 3 (out of 5), following a new tasting, where I noticed a stronger pistachio flavor. However, the almond aftertaste persists.
In the heart of Acireale, among the historic venues famous for the granita tradition, Caffè Cipriani undoubtedly stands out, with its beautiful location in front of the stunning Basilica di San Sebastiano.

Overall, the granita is pleasant and has improved compared to the past, with an extremely creamy texture (leaning towards gelato), typical of the Acireale style. Despite the overall creaminess, a noticeable "powdery" effect can be felt on the palate.
The pistachio flavor is present, especially in the toasted notes, but not particularly bold, partly because it is masked by a significant almond aftertaste.
It is a real shame that the pistachio flavor wasn't properly showcased. On the other hand, there is nothing to complain about regarding the quality of the fruit flavors, such as mulberry and prickly pear. The brioche is also excellent, truly tasty with a soft yet substantial texture.
