Along one of the most important streets in Catania, Corso Italia, just a few steps from the seafront, stands the historic Caffè Europa, where we simply had to try the pistachio granita.
The bar is welcoming and elegant, as you would expect from a venue located on such a prominent street, and it offers a wide assortment of products at all hours.
The granita looks extremely inviting from the very first glance, thanks to its very convincing green color and its very creamy texture. Upon tasting, it confirms that you are dealing with an excellent granita, with an intense pistachio flavor that is absolutely impeccable, without any unwanted aftertaste.
The creamy texture (leaning towards that of gelato) is a hallmark of many Catania-style granite and might put off those who prefer a more watery version. The brioche is good, but not excellent.
So, if you want to enjoy a great granita in a welcoming spot, just a short walk from the sea and the city center, this is undoubtedly a very valid option to consider.
Based on its pistachio flavor, which is intense and precise, it deserves a score of 9/10.
