A steep bill for a mediocre granita.

Granita Pistacchio Cutilisci Catania

Rating: 3

Drawn in by the colorful tables and the picturesque location, as any tourist would be, I decided to try the pistachio granita at Cutilisci, located in the seaside village of San Giovanni Licuti, in Catania.

Although the brown color raises hopes for an interesting toasted pistachio aroma, the actual taste is a disappointment. A slight pistachio flavor is present, to be clear, but it is quite underwhelming compared to the very high standards we are accustomed to. The only positive note is the excellent bread served with the granita, a sort of whole-wheat focaccia with grains.

The value for money is also negative, because while a mediocre granita might be justified by a low price, in this case, the bill is actually quite expensive.

I also tried the strawberry granita and, in my opinion, it was practically inedible, but obviously, this does not affect the rating in any way, as we are only judging the pistachio here!

It should be noted that granita service is available from the morning until 6:30 PM, so you won't be able to have granita for dinner (as you can in many other places in Catania).
