Perfect texture. Delicate yet pleasant flavor.

Granita Pistacchio Caffe Crispi Catania

Rating: 4

For a light and refreshing lunch break, I decided to try the pistachio granita offered by Caffé Crispi, a small bar on a very central street in Catania.

Just by looking at it, you can tell we are dealing with a granita with the "right texture," meaning not the gelato-like kind, but the one characterized by "light syrup and a bit of foam." Preferring one over the other is a matter of personal taste, but it's worth noting.

Upon tasting, the granita is very pleasant, both in terms of texture and pistachio flavor. In reality, the pistachio taste isn't particularly intense, but it is just enough to make the granita very enjoyable; furthermore, in terms of flavor, it differs significantly from most of the granitas you find in Catania, which makes it quite interesting. Perhaps a touch too sweet, but nothing bothersome.

Ultimately, although it is a bit different from what I consider my favorites, I found it truly interesting and I recommend you go and try it to form your own opinion. It deserves a rating of 4 pistachios.

It is worth noting that the pineapple granita I chose to pair it with was good, but had an aftertaste I didn't care for: next time, I will opt for a different flavor combination.
