Pasticceria Di Dio, in Catania, offers a wide selection of desserts, from mignon pastries to all kinds of cakes, along with many other treats. We had the pleasure of being among the first to taste one of their 2018 novelties, the "Orenda Cake".
The cake, sold both whole and by the slice, looks majestic, with its coating of white pistachio chocolate shavings and chopped pistachios.
Underneath the coating, we find: milk-soaked chocolate sponge cake, pistachio ricotta, and almond slivers.
Every forkful is an explosion of flavors, perfectly in harmony, just as the harmony of textures is perfect. The soft chocolate sponge cake blends with the pistachio ricotta, contrasting with the crunchiness of the topping.
The pistachio flavor is guaranteed by the delicious pistachio ricotta in the center and the excellent pistachio chocolate on the coating! The chocolate never masks the pistachio, but rather accompanies it delicately. Similarly, the almonds never interfere with the pistachio flavor, providing only a pleasant crunchy note.
The whole experience offers taste and freshness, resulting in a cake that never feels heavy, which is why we really loved it, especially since it is innovative compared to what is commonly found around. Highly recommended!
