Bar Eden is a true institution in Messina, considered by many to be the place to eat the best granita in all of Sicily.
We therefore decided to put their pistachio granita to the test!
We were met with an excellent granita, with an intense yet well-balanced pistachio flavor, captured in a typical Messina-style granita, with its soft texture that leans slightly towards the watery side. No unwanted aftertaste and, of course, the essential pairing with whipped cream (optional, but definitely recommended), which is a must in Messina.
Naturally, like any artfully crafted granita, there is no trace of milk inside. The brioche is also very good, large and soft, and the other flavors are excellent as well (definitely living up to their reputation).
The place is quite unique, with a "homely" look, thanks to the outdoor area where you can enjoy your granita (no table service). The staff is very friendly.
Focusing strictly on the pistachio, in our opinion, it is not the absolute best, but we are certainly dealing with an excellent granita that, for its flavor, deserves a score of 9/10 and is definitely among the best.
