Excellent and intense pistachio flavor, though it contains a lot of milk.
Le Cremolate is a small gelateria in Palermo that specializes in cremolate, a variation of the classic Sicilian granita found on the eastern coast of the island.
The fruit flavors are expertly made and are almost identical to the granitas you would find in Catania and Messina, making this a must-visit spot if you are looking for a good granita in Palermo!
The pistachio flavor, however, contains milk—in a fairly high percentage, actually—which makes it very similar to gelato (it reminded me a lot of the one at BamBar in Taormina). The pistachio taste is nonetheless very intense and high-quality, as well as being present in a very high percentage. There are also bits of chopped nuts throughout, which are truly delicious!
If you find yourself in Palermo, I recommend giving it a try. The staff is also very kind, and unlike other gelaterias, they will let you sample the flavors so you can choose the one you like best!
