Paradiso Gelato is a well-established spot in Priolo, known for the quality of its products and a medium-sized display case offering a good variety of choices. Among the many flavors, we inevitably focused on the star of the show: the pistachio gelato.
The tasting: intensity and roasting
Upon the first bite, the verdict is clear: you can really taste the pistachio here. It isn't a shy flavor masked by cream and sugar; it emerges with confidence. The main characteristic is a rather marked roasted note: mind you, this isn't a burnt defect, but a stylistic choice that enhances the nutty aromas of the fruit, making the sensory profile complex and satisfying.
The creaminess is excellent, velvety just right, and the sweetness is well-calibrated, never cloying. A point in its favor is the non-intrusive base: milk and cream do their structural job without stealing the show, leaving all the necessary space for the green flavor to shine. The perception is that the percentage of pistachio is high, or at least that the combination of ingredients is designed to maximize the impact of the raw material.
The granita: same soul, different body
We also tried the pistachio granita. You can immediately recognize the same quality raw material, but the experience is different: being more watery, the intensity of the flavor seems lighter compared to its gelato counterpart. It is good and refreshing, but if you are looking for a pistachio "bomb," the gelato is the way to go.
Verdict
For those looking for a pistachio gelato where the nutty flavor is bold and authentic, with a roast that plays a key role, this is an excellent address. You can taste the quality from the very first spoonful.
The rating for the pistachio flavor is 8/10.
