A'Matticana is a small bar located in Riposto (a small seaside town in the province of Catania, bordering the municipalities of Acireale, Giarre, and Mascali). Their specialty is granita, where you can truly taste the simplicity and craftsmanship of the preparation.
The pistachio granita is excellent, with a totally natural pistachio flavor, without any roasting. You might not appreciate it if you are looking for that roasted taste.
The percentage of pistachio is high and the sweetness is well-balanced.
The brioche is quite good, although not quite at the same level as the granita.
Also worth noting is the "mandorla integrale" flavor, where they keep the skin on the almond, rather than peeling it as is traditional in many parts of Sicily (which usually results in a completely white granita).
