We are back to talk about Prestipino Café, a beautiful café in the heart of the historic center of Catania.
The presentation is excellent, as is the brioche, but upon tasting, the pistachio granita is a real disappointment. I have no complaints about the texture, or the fact that the overall flavor is pleasant, but it tastes like almond! The pistachio is almost impossible to find, completely overpowered by an exaggerated amount of almond. Many years ago this was the norm, but today, with competitors raising the bar by focusing on pure pistachio, such an impure flavor is simply not acceptable.
Unfortunately, the fruit granita didn't fare much better. What I regret is that this granita serves as a misleading introduction to Sicilian granita for many tourists, especially since this café manages to do a great job with their gelato!
With such an absent (or nearly absent) pistachio flavor, the rating can only be 2 pistachios. A real pity.
