On the Catania seafront lies Ernesto, a bar that is a timeless classic, famous for its gelato, yet capable of offering a wide selection of high-quality sweet and savory treats.
Among the flagship flavors of their gelateria, the pistachio gelato was a must-have, so we went to try it to see if it lives up to its reputation.
The color looks good, with a rather natural green that isn't too bright, but it's upon tasting that you get confirmation you're dealing with an excellent gelato. The texture is fantastic, creamy just right, and it never feels too sweet.
The flavor is excellent, with no intrusive aftertastes (typically milk), allowing you to enjoy the taste of pistachio, which comes across as very natural. What struck us about this gelato is its "uniqueness"; in fact, it has a slightly different character compared to other pistachio gelatos, which sets Ernesto apart and is certainly what their customers appreciate.
