Pizzeria Milazzo started as a takeaway pizzeria, but after its reopening, it now offers a few seats in a simple yet lovely setting. Their signature dish is certainly the dough, so we wanted to try their take on pistachio pizza.
The dough, well-leavened with its characteristic generous crust, has a slightly "rustic" note that is very pleasant, highlighting its high quality. It is definitely the strong point of this pizzeria.
The pizza we tried: pistachio pesto, Philadelphia, buffalo mozzarella bocconcini, smoked salmon.
The pesto seems to be blended with something to form a delicious creamy sauce, in which the pistachio flavor is clearly present! Accompanying it are a few whole pistachios, which taste good and are crunchy, delicious, and flavorful!
Added to the pistachio are the contrasting notes of the smoked salmon, which creates an excellent interplay of flavors, along with the more delicate flavors of the dollops of Philadelphia and the small raw mozzarella balls!
In summary, the pistachio does not dominate unchallenged, but manages to hold its own despite the salmon, highlighting a skillful balance of flavors that certainly makes it one of the pizzas that impressed us the most in 2019.
