Bar Centrale in San Giovanni La Punta overlooks the town's main square, featuring a lovely veranda where you can enjoy the many specialties they offer. After trying their delicious pistachio cornetto, it was time to try the pistachio arancino.
Opening the arancino, you are left speechless by the abundance and beauty of the filling, as well as the color of the rice, which is visibly well-seasoned. The outer frying is perfect, dry and crispy.
With the first bite, the arancino melts in your mouth, thanks to a truly delicious filling with a fantastic mix of flavors. The pistachio, blended with cream, joins bits of ham and a very delicate onion sauté.
The sweetness of the pistachio is emphasized by the cream, while the ham creates a bit of contrast to keep the flavor from becoming monotonous. The onion is a very light background note, never overpowering. The rice is tasty with well-defined, perfectly cooked grains.
Ultimately, a very good arancino, highly recommended if you want something truly tasty and not mundane. The pistachio flavor doesn't reach its absolute peak due to the ham, but this shouldn't be seen as a flaw, because the balance of flavors is spot on.
