Here is the most 'pistacchioso' arancino in Catania, winner of the great 2024 challenge.
Between May and July 2024, an intense "pistachio hunt" took place, during which Pistacchissimo, accompanied by popular juries, anonymously purchased and tasted pistachio arancini from 24 local establishments in Catania.
The two arancini that made it through all the selection phases and semifinals were:
- Bar Condorelli, Belpasso
- I Giganti, Catania
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Piazza Scammacca in Catania, the grand finale was held, where they competed before a large popular jury that voted for their favorite pistachio arancino.
With a score of 57 to 41, reflecting a very close contest between two excellent arancini, BAR CONDORELLI from Belpasso emerged victorious.
1ST PLACE - BAR CONDORELLI (BELPASSO)
The winner, Bar Condorelli in Belpasso, is a true Sicilian institution that proves it is always in step with the times and more attentive than ever to quality.
A rich, very creamy filling with a very intense pistachio flavor that enhances the sweet notes typical of pistachio and features a light, very pleasant grainy texture. These are the characteristics that made it, according to the public, the most 'pistacchioso' arancino in Catania.
Please note that you can mainly purchase them at their historic location on Via Vittorio Emanuele in Belpasso, but they also have a shop on Via Etnea in Catania (which is smaller, so availability is more limited).
2ND PLACE - I GIGANTI (CATANIA)
The runner-up, I Giganti, is also an absolute must-try; with their top-quality product, they managed to stand out from all the other venues and reach the grand finale!
