Welcome to a new installment of the "Not just pistachio" column! Today I'm taking you to Catania to discover a concept that was completely missing in the city: Kebastard. About a month after opening, I went to try this place and the experience was a real surprise. Forget the classic, standardized kebab you're used to: here we're talking about a contemporary project where spit-roasting, fire, spices, and influences from all over the world coexist without any compromise.
The real strength? Everything is 100% artisanal and prepared in plain sight, starting with the flatbreads! I went straight for the Black Shawarma, a triumph of flavors: artisanal pita stuffed with herb-marinated and spiced beef, Ragusan buffalo yogurt, dill, sumac, the essential spicy bastard sauce, charred lemon, mixed greens, and fermented red cabbage. A perfect balance of taste and texture. I also tasted the chicken version (off-camera): delicious, but personally, I think the beef definitely has more character and packs a much bigger punch on the palate.
Honorable mention also for the appetizers: a rich, tasty, and at times very original selection, capable of showcasing gems like Ragusan buffalo yogurt or mango chutney.

It's not the traditional cuisine you'd expect, but a true evolution of taste with a lot of personality. A delicious product that absolutely deserves to be tried and tried again!
