The best and most pistachio-packed burger around!
N'Acchianata (meaning "on the way up" in Sicilian) started in Catania (click here for the review) and later opened in Nicolosi as well (which we will cover in this review).
Why 2 separate reviews? Because although they share many similarities, the two locations also have some important differences that create quite distinct experiences.
- Seating: the Nicolosi location has seating! (though no table service)
- Soft bun: at the Nicolosi location, it is very soft and brioche-like
- Smashed Burger: at the Nicolosi location, the meat is "smashed"
The latter two features make the style much more "American," but with all the quality of artisanal Sicilian products (so forget about fast-food chains).
They offer two pistachio burgers:
- Oru Viddi: pistachio cream, arugula, burger patty, crispy bacon, melted cheese
- Pollu Ermanos Viddi (the one in the photo): pistachio cream, arugula, super crispy breaded chicken, pistachio chili *
* their Pistachio Chili is truly EXTRAORDINARY, one of my absolute favorite ingredients, featuring ground beef immersed in an incredibly intense pistachio cream. It contains no onion and is not spicy; the term "chili" might be misleading, so imagine it as a sort of "white pistachio ragù."
It's hard to choose which one is better between Catania and Nicolosi, so when in doubt, try them both. For sure, with the pistachio chili, you will eat the most pistachio-packed burger of your life!
A very important feature is that, despite the very "foodporn" look, the flavors are actually perfectly balanced and the burger doesn't feel heavy. You can tell there is a lot of study and professionalism behind it.
The non-pistachio burgers are also delicious and worth trying. The pistachio fries are excellent too!
