An alcoholic cream that doesn't taste enough like pistachio.

Panettone Pistacchio Flamigni

Rating: 4/10

A staple on Italian tables, panettone is undoubtedly one of the main symbols of Christmas. Among the endless variations, the pistachio panettone is a must, though navigating the countless supermarket and artisanal options is no easy task.

Although Sicily is the biggest promoter of this panettone variation, there are plenty of options from other parts of Italy, such as the one produced by Flamigni, based in Forlì, which also sells its products online via its own e-commerce site.

The packaging is very polished and shiny, looking like a proper gift box, absolutely perfect to place under the tree.

Panettone Pistacchio Flamigni

The panettone is completely covered in a white chocolate glaze and a sugar and pistachio praline topping. Upon tasting, it is crunchy and delightful, but the pistachio flavor is absent.

It is a simple panettone, without raisins or candied fruit, filled with pistachio cream, in which the pistachio percentage is 11%.

The dough is very soft, but it reminds one more of a sort of brioche (very aromatic) than a classic panettone, which can also be considered an interesting aspect.

The pistachio cream has a "gelatinous" consistency and pairs very well with the dough in terms of both taste and texture. Unfortunately, as it is an alcoholic cream (with a very low percentage of pistachio), the pistachio flavor is almost imperceptible.

Overall, it is a good product, but in terms of pistachio flavor, the rating can only be 4/10, as the pistachio taste is almost untraceable, or at most, only vaguely hinted at!
