Excellent pistachio cream, but a very basic panettone.
A staple on Italian tables, panettone is now one of the main symbols of Christmas. Among the endless variations, the pistachio panettone is a must, but navigating the numerous artisanal and supermarket options is no easy task.
Among the options you can find at the supermarket is the panettone margherita with a jar of pistachio cream produced by Condorelli, a very famous Sicilian brand.
The packaging is very well-crafted, decorated with paper and a ribbon that makes the whole thing look like a lovely gift, complete with a bow, naturally in shades of green. Inside, we also find a beautiful silver spreader that allows us to spread the cream with ease.
The 750-gram panettone has a somewhat plain appearance since, being a "panettone margherita," it is completely simple, without any kind of topping to decorate it. This simplicity is confirmed in the taste of the dough, which has no particular merits or flaws. The dough has a simple but pleasant flavor, in line with supermarket products, even if the leavening is not particularly exciting.
The centerpiece is undoubtedly the pistachio cream, made with 30% roasted pistachios, which proves to be a good cream upon tasting, with a well-defined pistachio flavor and no unwanted aftertaste from excess sugar or fats. It is not a cream that will leave you speechless, but it is very good, thanks in part to the roasted aftertaste. Among the supermarket panettoni we have tried, this is certainly a pistachio cream that stands out.
The overall flavor is therefore good, especially thanks to the pistachio cream, and considering the pistachio taste, the rating is 7/10, even if the rather dense panettone is a bit disappointing.
