Ritrovo Orchidea is located in Oliveri, in the province of Messina, and is known for its vast selection of granite, with very unique flavors, especially the fruit ones.
Recently, this spot has become quite popular on social media because of its pistachio granita, considered by many to be among the best in Sicily: we had no choice but to rush over and try it!
The granita has an amber color, almost a soft hazelnut shade. The texture is excellent, as is the flavor, which confirms that we are dealing with a truly high-quality granita.
The pistachio flavor is very prominent, and you can tell that it is used in excellent percentages; on the other hand, the pistachio used is heavily roasted, which makes the flavor lean a bit towards hazelnut. To have a perfect pistachio granita, in our opinion, the pistachio should be less roasted, so as to savor the characteristic sweetness of the nut itself.
We were positively impressed by the various fruit flavors we tasted and, not least, the brioche, which was truly very good.
Ultimately, an excellent granita, even if, in our opinion, not perfect from a pistachio perspective. Definitely recommended if you find yourself in Oliveri!
