Borghetto Santa Caterina is a pizzeria with a simple yet well-kept atmosphere, suitable for any occasion.
The pizza in this review, which is presented as a "focaccia" stuffed with mortadella and pistachio cream, features a perfectly baked, but above all, incredibly light dough!
The artisanal savory pistachio cream is essentially a delicious cheese cream blended with pure pistachio paste; it is extremely pistachio-forward but not cloying, with a flavor that is completely different from the usual and a taste of authentic pistachio. It differs greatly from the many pizzas with pistachio pesto, which have become much more common.
The mortadella, sliced very thinly, is of the highest quality.
This is an "off-menu" item (or rather, presented on additional sheets) and the price is quite high, but it is fully justified by the raw ingredients, and it's worth the splurge for once.
The red pizzas are also excellent (always with top-tier ingredients; try their prosciutto crudo and you'll be blown away), as are the desserts, all artisanal and with availability that varies by season, as they carefully follow the seasonality of the ingredients.
It should be noted that the service is not very fast, but if you want to spend a relaxed evening and enjoy things made with care and passion, I recommend you give it a try!
