Very good, but not at the highest levels of "pistachiosity".
5 Panetti is a young takeaway pizzeria in Catania that aims to stand out from the crowd by offering a wide selection of doughs (exactly 5, as the name suggests) made with high-quality flours. If you add fresh ingredients, a clean shop, and very courteous staff, you get something that deserves to be tried!
Pistacchissimo couldn't miss out on trying their pistachio pizza, which has a high-sounding name on their menu: BRONTE!
The ingredients are: buffalo mozzarella from Campania, pistachio cream, mortadella, chopped pistachios, Grana shavings, and extra virgin olive oil.
The available doughs, which we mentioned at the beginning, are: semolina flour, brown flour, 5-grain, Nero di Sicilia, and whole wheat. For this review, I chose a classic semolina dough, but we have tasted other excellent doughs on other pizzas.
The pistachio cream is made in the most classic way, by blending pistachio pesto with a little bit of cream, in order to make it creamier and provide that slight degree of sweetness that helps enhance the pistachio flavor. The pistachio is abundant, and indeed the final flavor is good, making this pizza, in fact, one of the best takeaway pistachio pizzas I have tried in Catania. However, I believe there is still room for improvement to better highlight the pistachio flavor and prevent it from being excessively masked by the other flavors.
Ultimately, an excellent pizza that deserves a rating of 4 pistachios, definitely above the average for takeaway pizzerias, but it doesn't quite reach that intense pistachio flavor that would allow it to get the top score. Nevertheless, I am confident that 5 Panetti will find a way to perfect the cream recipe, and we will be happy to return and try it again!
