Pasticceria F.lli Sava, in Paternò, is one of the most renowned spots in town for the quality of its products. We tried one of their tempting pieces of tavola calda: the pistachio cartocciata!
The filling, made of pistachio, cheese, and ham, is truly generous, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a bite without it! The pistachio is chopped and looks absolutely beautiful.
Everything is bound together with cheese that makes the filling creamy, along with sautéed onions. The final result is a rich, comforting flavor that will have you devouring the whole thing in seconds!
However, when it comes to the pistachio, don't expect a very intense flavor, because the various condiments, particularly the onion, take center stage and quite effectively mask the taste of the pistachio.
Ultimately, it is an exquisite product that I would gladly eat again, as long as you aren't expecting a strong pistachio punch.
