An excellent siciliana with a subtle hint of pistachio.
Rating: 7/10
Donna Peppina is undoubtedly one of the most famous spots in Zafferana Etnea, celebrated for a highly appreciated specialty: the siciliana. Naturally, we had to try their pistachio siciliana.
The siciliana is a type of fried pizza with a very thin and light dough. Donna Peppina's dough is excellent and well-fried, not overly greasy (though it remains a fried product, after all).
The filling is well-balanced: cheese, mushrooms, chili, ham, and pistachio, all combined perfectly so it's not overwhelming and can be enjoyed with pleasure.

Regarding the pistachio, the flavor isn't very strong, but it is still pleasant and superior to many competitors in the area. Specifically, we find pistachio pesto, not blended into a cream, which provides a very natural pistachio taste when you bite into the spots where it is more concentrated.
Ultimately, given the excellent overall flavor, but the rather delicate pistachio taste, the rating is 7/10. It still ranks among the siciliane in Zafferana that convinced us the most.
